Gems & Pearls Selected

Japanese Akoya Pearl & South Sea Pearl

TRACEY CHEN does not use freshwater pearls, because seawater pearls are more delicate in roundness and gloss.

We use Akoya pearls in Metropolitan series and our Fine Collection Series will also use South Sea gold and white pearls and Tahitian black pearls.

  • Akoya Pearl are seawater pearls, and their mother-of-pearl is Ma’s shell, so the Japanese name "あこや (akoya)" for such kind of pearl.  Japanese Akoya pearls are mainly produced in the Seto Inland Sea and are famous for their unique and delicate luster, especially their natural rose luster, which captures the hearts of ladies.
  • Only one mother oyster can be cultivated, and the growth period of pearls takes about 3-4 years. Akoya pearls have the best gloss of all pearls, and are called "little bulbs".
  • The large size, limited culturing area, and extended growth period all combine to make South Sea pearls the rarest of all pearl types.
  • Found in colors ranging from optic white to a deep, honey gold, these pearls are prized by collectors and designers alike. The luster of South Seas pearls, whether white or golden, is soft and luxurious.
  • Only a small percentage of South Seas are spherical and as such, full strands of matched pearls are extremely rare.

18 Karat Gold

Solid gold is a rare precious metal that will never oxidize and change color, and 18K gold is one of the metal materials selected in TRACEY CHEN fine jewelry collection. Its main component is gold, which is harder than platinum. It can be made in different styles and colors and is also very suitable for diamond settings.

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper alloy. The outer layer of TRACEY CHEN sterling silver jewelry is plated with a thick rhodium, which is one of the rare precious metal materials in the world to increase the luster and durability of jewelry. Gold vermeil is a very high specification jewelry processing technology. The requirement for it is at least 1.5 microns and precious metals above 10K gold. We use 18K gold to thickly plate our pure silver jewelries.
